Main Applications

Polymerization Catalyst

In recent years, manufacturing processes utilizing phosphotungstic acid as a polymerization catalyst have become established and, due to their superior selectivity, have resulted in increased manufacture yields and increasing demand.

Oxidation Catalyst

Heteropoly acids such as phosphotungstic acid can be used as an alternative to sulfuric acid in oxidation reaction. Demand is increasing because there is less byproduct and it can be used repeatedly.

Others

The oxidizing power and acid strength of heteropoly acids such as phosphotungstic acid means they are widely used in the following catalytic reactions:

  1. Isomerization (1-butene → 2-butene)
  2. Hydration (Propylene, isobutene → alcohol)
  3. Dehydration (Olefin synthesis)

Can you supply heteropoly acids other than phosphotungstic acid?
We manufacture the following heteropoly acids:
Phosphomolybdic acid H3[PMo12O40]・nH2On=30
Silicotungstic acid H4[SiW12O40]・nH2On=24
It is also possible to produce mixed coordination type heteropolyacids in which the polyatoms are adjusted to different types.
For example, our company can also manufacture H(3+x)[PVxMo(12-x)O40]・nH2O x=1 to 4. We have types in which the heteropolyacid's protons are replaced by other cations, such as Cs, Na and K. This change adjusts the heteropolyacid's solubility and catalytic activity.
Is there a variation in the content of waters of crystallization between product lots?
Due to the product’s characteristics the crystal water content varies from lot to lot. However, usability for the user is improved through submitting the analytical values for all lots to them.

We use phosphotungstic acid as a catalyst for polymerization reaction. Whilst the purchase price may be higher than when using sulfuric acid, its merits, such as low-levels of byproduct, low environmental load and the fact it can be used repeatedly, means we have used it for many years.

We have been using phosphotungstic acid as a catalyst for solvent manufacturing for the for many years. It is easy to use because of its stability and the fact it has few impurities.
